Subjects Tab

This tab was designed to record different subjects related to the described item or folder. Note: The subjects (people, corporations, laces) differ from the contributor people, corporations, and places. For example, the contributors of a German video made by pioneers from the GDR about the Soviet pioneer movement and Lenin will be the German pioneers while the subject will be Lenin as a person and the Soviet pioneer organization as a corporation.

Spatial Coverage (Countries)

Format: Controlled vocabulary, drop-down list field. Purpose: Countries (including historical) covered in the content of the item. Rule: Input countries covered in the unit of archival description.

Spatial Coverage (Places)

Format: Controlled vocabulary, drop-down list field. Purpose: Use this field to input historical places or other geographic entities covered in the unit of archival description. Rule: This field requires a link to a VIAF authority file or an authority file from another recognized source. This is a controlled value for a reference to a place (including historical), referred to elsewhere in the record, i.e. Place of Creation or Administrative History. Use terms from Authority Files.

Subjects (People)

Format: Controlled vocabulary, drop-down list. Purpose: Use this field to input a personal subject name covered in the unit of archival description. Add from the existing controlled list or create a new entry. Rule: To add a new Subject (People) name, this field will require a link to a VIAF authority file or an authority file from another recognized source. Subjects (Corporations)

Format: Controlled vocabulary, drop-down list field. Purpose: Use this field to input the name of a corporation subject covered in the unit of archival description. Add from the existing controlled list or create a new entry. Rule: To add a new Subject (Corporation) name, this field will require a link to a VIAF authority file or an authority file from another recognized source.
